Any Questions?

An online chat reference service for all NZ school-age students available from 1pm - 2pm. At this site students can get direct, real time help from a trained librarian from the National Library and public libraries to find the information they need, and to build their research and information skills.

Epic

Collection of databases, which contains millions of NZ and international full text articles, images, video, sound, biographies, and reference, works. The Ministry of Education has funded free password access for schools (see your librarian)

Index NZ (INNZ)

An index to articles in over 300 NZ newspapers and magazines, mainly published since 1987. Schools can obtain free photocopies of articles from Document Supply Services at National Library, Wellington. Some of these newspapers and magazines published within the last ten years are also available on EPIC where you access the article online.

Living Heritage

Through Living Heritage students can develop and publish projects on the Web that are based on their research into a local heritage treasure from their community.

Matapihi

An online history and culture resource that lets users search across the digital collections of NZ cultural organisations including the Alexander Turnbull Library, the Auckland Art Gallery, Auckland City Libraries, Christchurch City Libraries and Otago Museum. more than 50,000 images are currently available, including photographs, drawings, paintings, sculpture and some 3-d virtual museum objects, as well as some sound files and text.

Papers Past

An invaluable resource for Social Studies and History, Papers Past contains about one million pages from 19th Century NZ newspapers housed in the Alexander Turnbull Library.

Te Ao Hou

This website lets

you search and browse in English and Maaori all 76 issues of the magazine Te Ao Hou The New World, published from 1952 to 1976 by the Maaori Affairs Department.
