The aim of the programme is to assist adults across the cultures in our communities to raise foundation skills by improving literacy numeracy and oral communication skills. It encourages lifelong learning to targeted priority learners through courses including literacy, numeracy, Te Reo, Pasifika and other languages, NZ sign language, computing literacy, budgeting and driving licences.
Introductory courses leading to NCEA credits could include electronics, mathematics and science. Several hobby type courses are also offered each term, the most popular being cooking on a budget, guitar beginners and yoga. Fees are charged for all courses with the exception of adult literacy and butgeting.
- Courses offered are either educational; for example literacy or numeracy, and are usually funded by the Tertiary Education Comission (TEC).
- Courses can also be classified as skill enhancement or hobby courses There is usually a charge for these courses.
